Green Farm, the Sustainability of the future

The Green Farm project is developed by Graded s.p.A in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture (DIA) of the University of Naples Federico II who made available free of charge its Experimental Farm of Castel Volturno. The project aims to propose a model of increasing sustainability in agriculture able to combine the production, management and use of energy from renewable sources (RES) in cultivation systems also through the valorization of biomass deriving from the waste of agricultural operations in an integrated and intelligent innovative approach.

The goal is to achieve tangible productive and environmental benefits, as well as less soil contamination and a decisive increase in territorial resilience. From a preliminary energy diagnosis of the site of interest, have been identified all the utilities that need energy, both thermal and electrical. Downstream of the calculation of energy needs (current and future), the plants using renewable sources have been dimensioned. All flows calculated with the energy diagnosis will be monitored and managed by an intelligent system, called “Energy Management System“, which will allow energy optimization.

All the data collected on the field will be popular a database, so that the EMS can identify, through appropriate algorithms, a correct balance of the energy produced (and possibly stored in appropriate storage) with that required by the different activities of the farm. The EMS will manage in real time the measurements made by special sensors located in the company. Once collected, the data will be transmitted to a central storage unit and will be processed in order to connect those who need energy to those who can provide it. The entire process (called “machine learning”) ensures optimal flow management.
